It's like every time I get a story idea for Seishin, I end up researching heavily and finding the name of an obscure (?) samurai. If not, I keep wanting to find a means to adding a noble's name because the samurai make up a ton of the Japanese history. I cant' ignore them.

Somehow, looking up the Fuuma's leader Hojo Soun, led me to Suruga-Imagawa samurai Norimitsu Oshika.

HISTORY/SEISHIN Ramble: OSHIKA Norimitsu (小鹿 範満)
Not much is known about him or is relatives, or from what I gathered, but it seemed that everything ended when Norimitsu was killed (his brother or/and son committing suicide at the end of the revolt). Both he and his father were in a succession dispute; Noriyori (範頼) was his father, his childhood name being Chiyoakimaru (千代秋丸). During the Eikyo era, Noriyori opposed his younger brother Imagawa Noritada becoming leader of the Imagawa.

For Ujichika (Noritada's grandson) and Norimitsu, this starts all over again.

For Seishin, this starts all over again. This competition is probably the only or the most notable record of this family. Norimitsu becomes regent through Hojo Soun's recommendation.

After Uchichika becomes of adult age, Norimitsu does not give up regency.

At this moment, I don't 100% understand the details behind Noritada vs Noriyori.

For Seishin, Norimitsu plans to assassinate Hojo Soun with the help of Miura and Ashina family of Sagami.

I like to thank everyone again. My Gundam fanfic "Betting's Off" gained the most views and visitors in June 2014. In second place, my Fire Emblem fic gained the most visitors. I hope that in the future, the two stories will gain plenty of views and stand in the same ranks as my Seiya fic and Monster Rancher fic.

This is just an activity update, and it stinks. We passed the half year and I'm stuck babysit long term (or so it seems). I won't get into the details behind it, but I am upset, and my niece is a considerable burden. With this and work, with short breaks during the week, I have little time for leisure.

I wonder how this will work out when I am already having difficulty writing with confidence?

So, either I make the chapters considerably shorter (about 800 or less) or I just spend more time not uploading. Knowing me, I take months. Months of contemplation, drafting, and proofreading. If I make the chapters shorter, something has to happen in them. I am not sure on what to do.

Penitent Feathers needs to be finished. It should have been done. But how long has HoGW been sitting around?

I even thought of making Uzumaki bi-monthly? Or just once a month?

Let me starting by saying that I am not that happy with the comic direction of NARUTO.

As ninja are romanticized in various media, with NARUTO being no exception, NARUTO has become an international hit. Ninja drama has existed for years and I grew up enjoying the element of mysteriousness attached to the ninja. Also, I am a martial arts fans. Swords, bo sticks, throwing knives, anything where tools are used skillfully. Thus, the reason why I wanted to do Seishin Series, research all I can about ninja, and send it out into novel.

However, as NARUTO's Part 2 developed, it has become more of a shounen comic. a rule-defying comic. Action oriented, WHICH IS NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL, but it has become like Dragonball where power level is an important factor, female and side characters become virtually insignificant, and trust is determined by how much stronger you are. One boy can turn the tides of a large-scale battle; the background of the Uchiha encompasses the plot, conquering the significance of the Akatsuki organization and the potential of war. And oh, Itachi...I don't want to get into it.

War has a lack of shock value. It has not diminished completely as there are some very interesting PARTS, but I am not that impressed.

What NARUTO does succeed in is being an adventure and well-thought out as a world. The main character Naruto Uzumaki succeeds in being friendly and likable (least to me); we learn about the consequences of hatred; the cast is large and mostly memorable too. I'll stop here.

I'm not doing a review so I'm not elaborating my complaint that well.

I am ambivalent about fanfiction; I sometimes dislike how people disturb canon. I want to use fanfiction to prove that I read/watch/played something and then write proving my appreciation for what I read/watched/played. I don't do character bashing, I don't do main-original character stories (however, Penitent Feathers is my first, so I can convey the importance of the Sagittarius Saints. Might've been a bad idea to go with?), I don't do smut (I think it's incredibly pointless and just a guilty pleasure), etc.

Since I'm doing Seishin to set the tone of what ninja were, and since NARUTO comic might end this year, I thought of Uzumaki a re-telling. I have a fondness for "what makes people" and what a story and what characters can teach. It's not really a punch to Kishimoto; you wouldn't be an author without mistakes and I'm sure he has editors that can influence his direction of the comic.

I like affirming stories, I can like "positive energy" like with super robot franchise, but not that much with NARUTO. I'm almost annoyed by the popularity that it gets, especially in fanfiction, and how fanfic authors debase the series with their desperate self-inserting and their warped, unable to cope interpretations of canon reality (like with romantic pairings).

SolAka should be next. I apologize for being slow, but I also have fanfics that I work on. SolAka and Seishin are difficult series, but I enjoy working on them. Can't wait to see where Aka ends up.

December is on its way, and so is Winter.

On my 2nd day off and will hopefully have a third, but weekends usually mean babysitting. Also, my glasses ended up missing since Thursday. So that kind of annoys me.

Still need to work on SolAka. I'll work on it today and hopefully tomorrow. Still a little work over its progress but it is a battle chapter.

No plans for Seishin stories yet. Difficult series. How do I think up such things?

ABOUT ME AND NAME
Master Gray Wolf, or MGW for short, is the pseudonym of an amateur writer born and raised in Michigan, United States. Her first online fanfiction was based on Pokémon; later on, MGW would get introduced to the anime/game Monster Rancher and would develop a fan-series that is still in progress. MGW uploads works on both Fanfiction.net and Fictionpress.net, and also ArchiveofOurOwn.

MGW is named after a character from the anime/game "Monster Rancher". In Japanese, his name is Gingiraiga (ギンギライガー, 銀ライガー, Silver Raiga); "Raiga" is what Tiger is called Japanese. In the anime, he is the younger brother of Tiger / Raiga and is one of the Big BAD FOUR (English version) or 『ワルモン四天王』 (warumon shitennō, Evil Monster Four Devas/Heavenly Kings).

LITERARY STYLE
MGW has a tendency to write action/adventure or comedic stories for mostly young adults and young children. However, an exception to this rule is the fiction series Seishin Ninjutsu Chronicle, where some of the stories contain detailed violence and non-explicit sexual themes. The themes of teamwork, friendship, morals, and justice are frequent. Furthermore, because history, geography, sociology, and politics are a part of the author's interests, MGW likes to incorporate such elements into her stories and mirror real-life as close as possible.
MGW also prefers creating short chapters of around 1500-2000 words or less, but may make exceptions. This is for the convenience of herself and proofreading.

MGW is a long time fan of Monster Rancher. She enjoys both the game series and the cartoon, and the name "Master Gray Wolf" is derived from an animal character from the series. She sees her two stories Howl of Gray Wolf and Tiger of Freedom as her signatures works, and they are mostly based on the Monster Rancher games.

MGW likes the military and so far has created stories set in battle. United We Soar reflects her love of the Air Force and airplanes; Heroic Blaze SolAka is her first Science Fiction (super robot based) series. She also likes history and mythology, integrating both into Stalwart Silver and Seishin.

MGW has ambivalent views on fanfiction. Majority of her own fanfiction works are based on video games such as Monster Rancher (Farm) and Pokémon, and widely uses the monsters from the games with little to no connection from the TV and comic series. However, she has expressed disdain for fanfiction, especially those of NC-17 (Lemon)/MA rating, saying that it can ruin her image of the fandom. She primarily focuses on Howl of Gray Wolf and its succeeding stories, and has decided against creating fanfiction in 2009. However in late 2013, MGW has decided to create short Saint Seiya FFs, deeply inspired by the fans of Europe and Latin America.

MGW has developed two stories about Digimon, but they were removed from Fanfiction.net. One was possibly removed due to "original content" not derived from the animated or comic series. The remake of Pokefighters was canceled in 2011.

Seishin entry. These might not be official, but something I thought up for backgrounds.

Kirigakure Saizo:
Saizo is the son of Sokiri, a samurai leader under the Azai family (daimyo may be Sukemasa, then Hisamasa in1 1542) in the Kohaku region. Due to their conflicts against the Sasaki and Rokkaku family, the Azai had to ally with the Asakura and there were various raids against Rokkaku but they often lose.

Sokiri perishes and vassals of Saizo fled from Kohaku region to Nabari where Tanba took Saizo in. After some threats, Tanba convinces the Azai-Kohaku men to join the Iga and study under him as a step towards power. Saizo becomes akin to a uchideshi.

Tozawa Hakuunsai (戸沢 白雲斎)
Born in 1520s.
An old man from Settsu Province, even the Koga master of Sarutobi Sasuke rivaled against Rokkaku at one time. He used to belong to the Miyoshi family, vassals to the Hosokawa, but assisted in capturing castles from the Hosokawa for independence. He asisted Matsunaga Hisahide during the 1540s - 1560s in a campaign for independence. At one point, he retired and gave succession to his eldest son, while he goes on a trip. It's still unknown when he learns Koga, unless Ninjutsu users related to the Takeda (or even Mochizuki) were a part of the Miyoshi. It is also possinle

I am very sorry for my lack of inactivity. I have little to no excuse; while IRL did occasionally drag me down, it was my lack of confidence and my laziness that was preventing me to write and edit. Personally, I don't like to proofread. I often look over a single chapter more than once (or twice?) and end up being disappointed in my work, but I learn that it's important within the passion of writing.

Fanfiction
I humbly apologize. I didn't get to work on the new HoGW chapter draft this week; however, outline/summary of details are in my notebook. I will see if I can do something today or this coming Monday. The new upcoming chapter is called "The Son of Leap Forest". We're getting into the journey.

Hello! Here's a quick update.

The next chapter drafts for Howl of Gray Wolf and Jumping Monkey are done. I need to go over there to make a final version.

The next chapter draft for Heroic Blaze SolAka is taking...quite a while. It's nearly 1500 words and not completed. Good grief. After a long wait, I guess I must feel that the quality and pacing should be good.

A entry about Seishin. Just spilling my thoughts. It has the potential to be another Iga story. It kept cross my mind as tiny parts/ideas; now I can't remember what I wanted the purpose to be. For a long time, I was worried over the character Shoutarou, especially with his upbring and on why he was a cowardly character.
