Valspera Family
Etymology (French/Latin):
• Cirvalarie: From French: chevalerie for chivalry
• Virsperia or Valsperia: Latin spērāre, present active infinitive of spērō (“hope, expect”). sperare f (plural sperări is romanian. “Val” from above (French). Vir is from Virtue. The name also works nice with Spear Tower. Vir is from Virtue.
Former Etymology (Tokuwaru/Tokuseijyu):
Inspired by Tokugawa (徳川), which originally means "virtue river". Toku also means 得 (obtain/get), 匿 (hiding), "legend" (説, toku) and tsutawaru (伝わる), meaning summon. 割 (waru) = divide/cut. It also means “bad person/thing” (悪, waru; from warui). Also ワル. So this Tokuwaru could mean “obtain a bad thing”. There’s also fusa or “collection” (総). Moto means origin (本). Might be Tokufusa (obtain collection or virtue collection). Tokuseijyu or Seijyu (Attack Beasts) Knights/Order/Family. Japanese name to signify the presence of Kanto-Johnto-Hoenn three continents, and is its basis. Tokuwaru is from "legend" (説, toku) and tsutawaru (伝わる), meaning summon. . Seijyu (獣, jyu; beast) = attack beast (征獣). . Seijyu (獣, jyu; beast) = attack beast (征獣).

History:
Also called the Valsperia, Virsperia, Family of Aces, or the Family.
The main antagonist of Pokefighters (1st series) is this old-fashioned family, who represents the human minority in the Pokemon world. Their name and structure is inspired by the Tokugawa and are much like a Feudal family with knights who inspire to rule over the other classes with their power.
The Valspera claim descent from the Legendary Pokemon Trainers such as Red, Blue, Diamond, Green and Ruby, who formed the strongest bond with pokemon and even tamed the legendary beasts. To facilitate that, the Valspera developed devices called Chivalry Braces and Hadou Rings. Their Family fought Giratina, who defeated the humans and made them a minority by both wiping them out and taking them to the Reverse world. The PF story is based on their change into performing bad acts and becoming a “pokemon oppression group”. They want revenge on pokemon by capturing them for peace AND by defeating Giratina and controlling the Gods. The capture of pokemon is necessary to open the Dimension world and awaken Giratina because of the race distortion.
Goals: Control many Pokemon to secure world and defeat Giratina to avenge their lost in the last war, and to also make their first goal easier by defeating a god. This is done by distorting the Pokemon world by capturing many pokemon. They also want to retrieve the other legendaries.
Items: They are developers of the Hadou Rings and Chivalry Braces
• 17 Hadou Rings: Made during the Legendary Trainer Era, The hereditary Hadou Rings are items connected to the family members’ spirit and to the pokemon’s elemental types.
The 18th Hadou Ring “Renaissance” (1st): Also called the Omni Ring or Rex Ring. It was developed by the First Rex Regis and his wife Gina, who aspired to communicate with pokemon and strengthen their bonds. Legend has it that they have caught all pokemon and their wedding ring became the Hadou ring reflecting the bonds of the pkmn they caught. It’s actually the first and oldest ring, and birthed the others through the other generation. When Gina and Regis’s family expanded, they’ve decided to create other rings that attached the other elemental types thus spread the bond through other humans. Their family became famous. And in truth, making another Omi ring was too difficult.
• In this case, it’s connected to the Chivalry Brace. Hadou (はどうand 波導) is from wave undulation and is related to the essence. The ring can sense the same pokemon type nearby. With all sixteen together, it is said that they can understand all pokemon.
• Chivalry Brace: A device attaches to the pokeball to help them fully communicate and enslave one type of pokemon that reflects the Hadou Ring. That pokemon becomes a “Knight Pokemon”, a vassal like monster. They can only do it to the pokemon of the same ring type. The Knight usually helps the human translate what other pokemon say.
Hierarchy Classes:
Valspera Rex (King in Latin): This is the rank of Jene.
Member: Jene, Ralgo (Former), Regis (long ago...)
The patriarch of the family is called a Rex and is a hereditary title within the Pokemon human forces. He leads the family and their operations, also pursues all 17
Trivia: When the family was called Tokuwaru, I was trying to think of a Japanese name similar related to the Seijyu Taishogun (Invade Beast Grand Commander) Hereditary rank (?) of the Pokémon human forces. Like the seii taishōgun (征夷 大将軍, sei I tai sho gun; invade/attack monsters grand commander) , a military commander sent to subdue the Emishi or the eastern. The inspiration remains the same. Rex means king or ruler in Latin, thus a woman can be a Rex.
