mastergraywolfFinally, a basic idea on what this story may be about. Also some questions.

The year is 1610. It is the 17th century; late 900s--don't remember the actual date--is when Clan Wyvern got massacred. Do you think, after approximately 700 years, the european region would still know about gargs?
Like I said, this is taking place in 1610 AD. French explorers such as SAMUEL DE CHAMPLAIN established colonies and fur-trading posts across Quebec, Canada.
There were natives here -- The Iroquois and the Algonkin. Living among them was a gargoyle clan that lived in the LAURENTIDES MOUNTAINS. Initially they were quick to fear (demons, gods, you name it) and hunt them, but it turned they were too difficult to destroynot even via magic. Fortunately, each hostile encounter would result in no calsuaties. Little did the natives know is that the gargs were a protective, and intelligent, species.
AUTHOR NOTE: The gargs lived here since time immemorial, or they moved. I got the "Ottawa" origin somewhere, or it was a mistake. Geh, long time ago.
There was also a lot of warfare going on in Canada.
in 1608, SAMUEL DS CHAMPLAIN had shot and killed three Iroquois chiefs. That initiated a war between the French and the Iroquois, who wished to expand territory and monopolize every part of European influence, especially in trade. The Iroquois were the largest native power.
The French allied with the Algonkin and Huron [an Iroquian-speaking tribe] to fend against the Iroquios Nation.
How do the gargs come in? They might ally with the French.
They may have started out as neutral; the Iroquis probably would want them as a leverage during the war, so they can win favors from the British. But gargoyles don't like to be seen as just war tools, but protectors.
Eventually the gargs would realize the Nation's evil.
French Colonist CLAUDE-CECILIA BERNADINE (fan-made) would be the first to reach out to the gargoyles. In his travels, he met up with a gargoyle beast. It ate one of his apples...
