Good News! As promised, I finished and uploaded the new SolAka chapter. Finally it gets exciting.
In this chapter, we're introduced to new combat machines.
Name: Shang-class Jùshān (formely spelled as Jushan in the story)
Info: This is the Shenbu flagship. It compliments Yang's high and mighty character with its giant size and multiple features. In fact, its name literally means "Chief/Mega Mountain" (巨山). It is over 600 meters long, capable of space, air and sea travel, and can even carry other mecha. It is as the top of its class. Its class "Shang" is from "shàngdì" (上帝) in Chinese, which means "Superior being" or "God".
Tun-class Destroyer Huizing
Info: The primary Destroyer ship about 112m in length with a thin build. They are swifter than Juzing and are less armed, but still has good endurance. They work well in both sea, air and space. Their main armament and pride are their missiles; heat seekers, shrapnel, incendernary, etc. Tún is derived from 驅逐艦, which means destroyer, and tún being from the middle Chinese symbol. Huizing (彗星), from huìxīng, means "Comet" in Chinese. "Zing" could be a misspelling from my notes...
Tse-class Battleship Juzing
Info: Primary battleship Shenbu. Obviously inspired by the actually battleships of the seas: highly armed, highly armored. Tse is from 战舰 (tsechien in Wade-Giles), meaning battleship or war ship. Again, "Zing" is probably a misspelling. Juzing (巨星) means 'Giant star". The same symbol for Ju is the same for Jushan.
Phonetically "Xing" sounds like "sing" it seems and the "Zing" could be derived from that. And does it look better rather than "Juxing/Huixing"?
ZD-32 "Luo"
Info: Shenbu Fighter jet. Its name means "journey" (路) in Chinese. I was going to make it Japanese and name it "Fuuji" (風路), but there is a character named that. The designation of ZD is from 战斗机 (zhandouji), meaning fighter aircraft.
YGK-17 Seki
Info: A solar-powered Shirei interceptor jet created by the Ho-ou tribe or southern military (guys in red uniform). Notable features are its orange color, long neck, and bird-shaped wings. Designation is from “要撃機” (yougekiki, japanese for interceptor jet). "Seki" means "red" in Japanese.
Yamikyo MK.II
Info: Yami's mech that she is currently using. 45 meters tall; it is so covered in armor that it’s said that shells under 4000mm can't penetrate it. High-explosive missiles doesn't have much effect either. It lacks speed though, but dangerous in all ranges. As expected, it's classified as a Super Mecha. Yamikyo (闇巨) is Japanese for Dark Giant. Does that also explains General Yami's name?
The Mitsubishi fighters and Type 60 tanks are actual IRL machines.didn't want to treat them so bad though....
Culture Information
* On Shirei, the soldiers (and their race) are distinguished by the color of their uniform. For example, the Ho-ou tribe wears red and the seiryu tribe wears blue.
Ok. Please have a fun read
