Title: Howl of the Gray Wolf (acronym: HoGW or HotGW).
Reader type: Readers I think should be at least 12 or 13 years old due to language and violence. Maybe I should go for a younger audience.
| Purpose of Fanfic Project |
It is an age old story. Because I love Monster Rancher (farm), inspired by the cartoon and games, I wanted to make my own fanfic. Simple. And through the years, my liking of MR revives because of the same reason. I have been playing MR Advance recently too.
| Setting |
Story is more like the games with few differences; there is also some inspiration from the anime, like the idea of Moo being the main villain, Big Bad Four (and the use of the "baddie medallion"), Lost Disks, etc.
My stories take place on a two-continent planet. Long ago, it was just a single continent called Pangaea. Monsters and Humans coexisted as the top lifeforms; some monsters were genetically (ie: Superbreeds) or mechanically (ie: Hengar, sub-types relating to it, Zan) engineered. Some are magically made by divine entity or a human (ie: Joker's monsters, Suzurin, Wracky).
There are sorcerers or alchemists.
Moo (Dragon superbreed) was genetically engineered and the most evil of intelligent monsters. He went berserk and imposed a war on the human race. This was called "Ancient Monster War". The violence went worldwide and broke Pangaea in two.
Many many years went by centuries?
Monster Breed associations, ImA and FIMBA, are established on each continent. ImA is on the west continent and FIMBA is on the east. There are also some small islands.

Monsters like Tiger, Dino, Hare, Mew, Moochi, Jell, Gaboo, Mogi, Hopper and Pixie are common. Large monsters like Baku, Golem, and Psiroller are a little more rare; some are also rare because of bad, strange, or reclusive nature (ie: Naga, Niton, Beacolon, Undine, Gitan, Zilla, Centuar). Dragons are top tier on rarity.
Some rare ones, like Durahan, Lesione, Colorpandora and Bajarl are only around depending on the country you're in. Some monsters like zuum are exported to country polar from origin, due to the links between the associations FIMBA abd IMa, or they move there (ie: Zilla).
Some of the rarest monsters such as Gali, Ghost, Monol, Magic and Phoenix were considered Divine, sometimes worshipped as Gods. There are evil entities like Joker and Cinder Bird; similiar dark entities resembling Gali and Magic (the monster) can be found.
The Ghost monster are symbols of good luck because they are the souls of dead monster who enjoyed a good life with their friend.
A "LOST DISK STONE (disk stone; [i]enban ishi[/i])" will be known as a monster's "corpse". Their innate magical ability makes them become a saucer-like form called "CDs" when they die, which also gives them the advantage to be ressurrected later after a long amount of time has passed. The disk becomes fossils. The disk stone are saturated with life after a long rest and the only way to revive them is by "unlocking them". However, it will be the same species, but no attacks or memories of old life.
Each monster character will have a Grade and Data statistics (with letter grade from D to S). And remember breeders, there is no single best monster.

The focused characters are more freewheeling than the game (where you breed monsters and train them to fight/work under one of the associations) or anime (?). Monsters mostly present are from MR 2. For the revision, I will add in more monsters from MR1, MRA and MRA2.
I wanted Holly to appear in TOF.
I wanted to change the name of "Devious Dragon 4" to "四邪竜 | | Shi Ja Ryou (しじゃりょう) (Four Vicious Dragons)". BUT, Shi Ja Ryo is Japanese. There is no Japan in the story. It's not Japanese-centered group, like yakuza or some rich crime organization. Really just an entourage.
The DD4 (Jespah, Ragnaroks, Syler, Techno) Moo become his subordinates, who lead their own armies. Each dragon has their own group (like the BB4/bad mon 4 in the anime).
Moo is influenced by a Joker since old times, thus his great powers to control monsters and become fearful. This explains the rivalry between him and Skyfire the Phoenix; Gali has a rivalry with Joker. Both sides have Monol advocates.
The village that owned Jespah revived Moo and is being controlled by him; Moo revived Techno Dragon at a human-abadoned city; Ragna and Syler are following Moo by their own will due to bad reputation, love of power, and hatred of humans.

I may use exclusive terms to represent my stories and its common themes, such as "Tiger Generation" Tigeration? (both Grey Wolf and Tiger were main characters) or "Team Hero Monster" or "Mon Hero Friends", where the motif is working together. Yes, the names are VERY corny, but I was out of ideas and I just wanted to give out a quick example. Also, the stories are simple and it may contiune to be? Like the anime except more mature due to the violence and language.
