Further thoughts on 「伊賀忍軍対甲賀忍軍」.
Apparently Iga Ninja troop VS Koga Ninja troop.
Let me quite from previous entry:
Even though Sandayuu is the head Iga honcho, The Iga village's people are split into small districts throughout the Iga county led by a jounin. The Ueno home (Closest to Koga) could not hold everyone.
**Iga amd Koga had a "rivalry". I could not determine why. Their agents, the Tokugawa (especially when allied with Oda Nobunaga) and the Rokkaku, were against one another in Feudal time. That is understandable. As for the Koga's founding, unknown. Probably a long time ago, when Iga county had too many people, a split group was made.
** The Koga are more freewheeling and self-governing farmer group, promising their skills to the Rokkaku (at the moment?). As for the rivalry, I will say that is it not abhorrent to the point that they war with one another. Details SEEM to say that the "Age old bitter feud" is something of popular fiction. There will be moments where they are used as Proxy agents.
Okay, so I read up on a few things. This is a itty bitty history lesson and so it is spoilerish.
According to what I've gathered, when the Rokkaku was defeated and destroyed by Nobunaga Oda, the Koga Ninja were subjugated to his commands and his follower Totoyomi Hideyoshi OR it was just Totoyomi alone. When this happened, they were constantly monitoring the Iga
There was one point before that when Tokugawa Ieyasu (Matsudaira Motoyasu) allied with Nobunaga, who the Rokkaku hated (Koga), and Takeda Shigen, who rivaled Uesugikenshin family and were allied with Rokkaku. So there might be some tension from that too. There is also the core rivals of the Rokkaku, the Azai and Asakura families, who I think also worked with Tokugawa temporarily?.
I wonder where I found that because they hate Nobunaga too, and Tokugawa was allied with Nobu.
But what I am shooting for something earlier than the "politics/land wars" to maintain this popular thememaybe some cruel influence by Fuuma?, but also can respect each other and defend one another in times of war. Or maybe, instead of the Koga as a whole, just a few of the families who hate the Iga?
I still can't figure out when/why the Koga was formed. The sources I found talk about the same thing, about how the Koga protected Rokkaku Yoshikata (?) from the Ashikaga.
That's all for now
