** New Addition to the Project plans (AKA: My guide/notes).

Title: Pure Heart or "Seishin"
Reader type: Going for a potential graphic approach and will contain langage that may offend, lots of violence/gore/brutality, and maybe sexual content/violence among other things. I do like for it to be for ANYONE curious about the ninja BUT Reader discretion is advised. Generally best for those over 15 years old?

Purpose of Fanfic Project

Depict shinobi or ninja with a real-like image, outside of the overrated Masashi Kishimoto's NARUTO and common image from media, in a historical and graphic drama story.

** Because I like ninja, I grew frustrated at the silly theme that TMNT but I like them, NARUTO, and video games emitted, especially in America; plus frustrated that everyone seem to knew what a ninja was. While I think it's cool, I've gotten my own opinions. In addition, I want to imagine the lives and real-like choices made by the rivals Koga and Iga while doing the story, why their rivalry exist, and how they survive. I will try not to center on the historical figures like Kenshin, Ieyasu, and Nobunaga too much.

Setting
This is a fictional story starting in the historial Warring States Period (in Muromachi era) era in Japan. Apparently this is called Jidaigeki (時代劇) or Historical Era drama. War is present as civil strife; territory lords, under the Ashikaga government, fight among each other to become strong.

Ninja and Shinobi apparently means "to endure" and "thievery" (Shinobi); they exisited in Japan as a community of outsiders and Chinese descendents (monks, military strategies), the latter blending their secrets to oppose conflict and the dark outlook of the old days.

Typical characters like monks, ruffians, samurai, farmers, daimyo, poets and prostitues will appear.

Lots of forests and mountains, freewheeling like but much chaos and peace. Even in war times, there are brothers and sisters to hold.

The Ninja (MGW's)
They won't refer themselves as "shinobi" or "ninja" in the story, only by out of character text. They may be referred to by various other words such as thieves, demons, shadowmen, night people, rascals, tricksters, etc; others who notice their activities may call them "shinobi (thieves)". They also won't refer themselves as genin, chuunin or jounin.

They have occupations such as farmers and monks.

Ninjutsu is not a martial art (Combat techniques) and their methods won't be described as that way. Sword style (kenjutsu), Staff style (bojutsu or jo), spear (yarijutsu) and others will be used.

The Iga and Koga are the largest and most acclaimed ninja clans. They are comprised of various families; with the "style" more refurbished than centuries ago, those leading in ninjutsu's upbring are determined by those families. (can't explain too well)

Iga family: Tsukimori, Hattori, Fujibiyashi, Momochi, Hidaga, Yamanaka (?)...
Koga Family: Kousaka, Tsuneharu, ...

Many of their last names are based on nature (ie: Tsukimori, Kousaka) or a location (ie: Iga, Momochi?), or to give them a refined identity depending on where they were found/born (Sarutobi, Tsuneharu, Fujibayashi, Hayashi, kirigakure)? Normally, those who bear a last name are nobles. I guess they were more loose about it?

Last names like Ishikawa and Tanaka are common.

** These techniques were developed to protect each other from the administrations, especially during times of war and monopoly. These outsider people follow the Shugen Way (修験道) and were Buddhist monks.

** Like I said in an earlier version, the people of Iga/Koga/Fuuma won't refer themselves as nin or shinobi, and that will go the same for genin (low rank), chuunin (middle rank), jounin (head), oinin (chasing, pursue), nukenin (withdrawn, cast, shed ninja) So, in character dialogue, I will use the following:
Genin: Operative
Chunin: Leader or something similar (of squad/group of operatives)
Jounin and Iga Head: Headmasters. Sandayuu of Iga may be the Grandmaster (Soke) or just plain "Leader".

** Even though Sandayuu is the head Iga honcho, The Iga village's people are split into small districts throughout the Iga county led by a jounin. The Ueno home (Closest to Koga) could not hold everyone.

**Iga amd Koga had a "rivalry". I could not determine why. Their agents, the Tokugawa (especially when allied with Oda Nobunaga) and the Rokkaku, were against one another in Feudal time. That is understandable. As for the Koga's founding, unknown. Probably a long time ago, when Iga county had too many people, a split group was made.

** The Koga are more freewheeling and self-governing farmer group, promising their skills to the Rokkaku (at the moment?). As for the rivalry, I will say that is it not abhorrent to the point that they war with one another. Details SEEM to say that the "Age old bitter feud" is something of popular fiction. There will be moments where they are used as Proxy agents. If an enemy invaded either land, Iga and Koga would cooperate, and promise to work together to repel the enemy.

** Fuuma has a lot more obscure history and are apparently new. I like to think that it was a Koga rebel that made them. The Hojo uses them well; their battle power is relatively better for some reason.

Others
No magic. None!

However, there may be slight supernatural effects caused by abnormal weather or when a person dies. There are very very rare, btu there are also demons or brute monsters.
