"We don't reject writers; we reject pieces of paper with typing on them."

"Don't stay mad and decide you are the victim of incompetence and stupidity. If you do, you'll learn nothing and you'll never become a writer."

"Don't make the opposite mistake and decide the story is worthless. Editors differ, and so do tastes, and so do magazines' needs. Try the story somewhere else." Isaac Asimov (3 quotes)

"Even though I thought my work was pretty crappy, somehow it got picked up serialized in some really popular venues. So to all of you out there who wants to be comic artists, don't give up. You can do it." Takeuchi Naoko

Message from 2015:

Hi guys.

The name is Doggie, the owner of this blog where I cover different topics on a whim, but mostly about video games. Additionally, I have another name, which I've used for many years as a pen name for fanfics and original works of historical fiction, scifi, and fantasy.

MGW, which is diminutive for Master Gray Wolf, based on a name from the Monster Rancher (Jpn: Monster Farm) series. I don't insist that I am a "master" in anything. I just held onto the name for a long time because of my fervor for the series, especially since I like the Tigers from said series.

I enjoy writing, and I try to improve each time. Fanfic wise, I am probably best known for writing from the Monster Rancher and Saint Seiya series. I am also one of handful of authors on FictionPress who does an original mecha series. I also do Ninpocho, inspired by Futaro Yamada novel series on ninja, and I'm a beta reader in and FictionPress.

I'm posting this here to give those who read my works a heads up on my current situation. As of Dec 2015, this is my new blog. I'm just letting you know that I am not giving up on any of my stories. Never ever. Not when I have so much that I want to do and finish.
It's just that I wish to devote more time onto something important. Both writing/storytelling and art are parallel, and both steadying my hands and diagram study has to do with what I'm shooting for. I've made a choice to return to school in the year of 2016, and I want to do this because I want to make up for my past negligence.

"Why pursue a BFA (Fine Arts)?" Something that is difficult with very competitive jobs in few places such as character artist/designer, digital media, and game/show producer?

Having an interest is a good first step. When you find something that you love to do, daily, and pursue through education, I don't think there'll be regrets, even if you suffer in finding a better wage job. I may be barking up the wrong tree, as I done many times and end up getting embarrassed and insulted only because I follow what I believed were good ideas. Still, I think I work best in the arts.

Now with work, school, and babysitting my niece, my time will be lacking. Of course, I can still blog. It is significantly easier, especially when its on a topic that I know well, or I am copying from an old entry that I did. There will be entries based on info on my works, such as updates or just tidbits.

I tried to balance writing and "school preparations" (please check out my Sketch a Day list), but I shouldn't focus on too many things in a day. Writing still requires for me to do a lot of research and planning, and when I do a chapter, it sometimes extends beyond expectations. For example, I try to go for 500 or 600 words, and then it ends up being over 800 or 1000 words (but that usually means I'm having fun). When it does, it takes more time; then there's the proofreading.

I also have the ordinary concern of having lack of funds. With work and watching over someone, I couldn't help but think about making money from home. It just popped into my head as I felt desperate. If I could make money from home, especially from writing, I think that would be fantastic. But I can't. Because I am ignorant. You make money for blogging about knowledge. I can't blog about parenting, about architectural services, how to fix your house or your car, American history, translating into English, etc.

Further desperate, I wanted to create a wider fanbase by uploading my stories elsewhere such as AsianFics and FictionPad. Therefore, I could find connections. Stupid or not, again, barking up the tree, I still went along with it. There is nothing that I have for myself. So because I am not of high scholarship or magna cum laude, I have to work extra hard to get awarded or a better living.

I am so determined now because I made the choice for myself and looked back, wanting to stomp on mistakes and see if I was doing the right thing this time. I am an ambitious type when I want to, maybe that's why I produce so many writing plans.

I want to show myself and others that there's always a bright future.

Hang in there and please enjoy my stories and my blog. I still update my blog, twitter, and my profiles, telling you what I'm up to.

mastergraywolf: (Huh?)
Hello Monday, and Hello September.

Nothing to upload just yet.

Throughout maybe the last two months, I have been fighting against my low writing and creativity enthusiasm. I didn't have much focus either. I'm sure it's been said various times before but I don't think my writing is that great. My biggest problem IMO is sentence and phrase structuring (or just the way of grammar), and effective exposition. Maybe pacing as well.

It is a terrible combination, but can be expected from an amateur writer.

Not only do I think my writing isn't that good, I also get this funny feeling that I'm not learning anything new, or rather I can't find a way to fix my mistakes.

I could be being too hard on myself or I'm just forgetting some things.

If anything, I can get confused easily.

Nothing happened before the "hiatus" nor did anyone tell me anything. I just went into a slump and wanted to stay away from the computer a little while. Occasionally, I would write.

Ironically, you often commit job search to the computer.

Anyways, would posting more about English Syntax and creative writing make me more confident?

Let's start with some refreshing on basics:

I need a sad or sick icon.

MGW's been sick since last week Thursday. I am just starting to feel better, but before that I was procrastinating. Can't remember what I was doing; anyways, I did try to prepare getting back into writing this week after fully recovering from being sick, so I jotted down ideas for Pokefighters on my notepad.

That should inspire me to get back into it.

Interest in reviving Seishin is growing more. Check my Wikia for more.
Since Seishin is inspired by Futaro Yamada's Ninpochou, the ninja characters will have unique paranormal techniques and can wield unique weapons.

The paranormal techs will somewhat be against my idea of avoiding magic-like elements, like blowing fire or being able to disappear, but it won't be too exaggerated. Read Basilisk or Yagryu Ninja Scrolls for examples.

Stories for Seishin will be short and split into eras.

Okay, here is what is happening now and later.

- I have been working on the new chapter of SolAka, maybe I'm close to halfway done. Looks good/exciting so far, but there is also the proofreading. I can't promise but I am determined to finish it sometime next week and the week after because my activity is going to lessen a bit.

Aug 21 - 23 (Saturday - Monday): I'll be away on a trip.

Aug 30 - Around September 13th?: Job Training. If I can adapt to this soon, maybe I can make time for writing on the weekdays.

Weekends I'll be off.

Looking good!

The next SolAka chapter that is. Like I said before, a year has passed since I first started working on SolAka and for the past week I've decided to resume working on the next chapter for its birthday! It's a little tough because it is the first battle, but I am really enjoying myself. Maybe too much that I went over my usual word limit per chapter: It is over 2,700 words now and I still have a little more to add in.

But I've been awaiting for this moment.

I am not looking forward to the proofreading, but I hope to finish it today.

After that, I'll resume hiatus. Aww.

EDIT: I'll try finishing tommorow morning. Too much diffifulty focusing.
